Open seam
This is the basic seam and is suitable for most projects.
Steps to sew an open seam
- Place fabric right sides together and sew 1.5cm (5/8”) in from the edge.
- Neaten the edges using your preferred method i.e. over-locker (as in sample shown) zig-zag stitch or pinking shears.
- Press open for a neat finish.
Note:
The measurement given here of 1.5cm (5/8") is the standard seam allowance adjust up and down to as needed.
